The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently announced August 14, 2024, as the deadline for commodity and specialty crop producers that suffered losses as a result of a 2022 natural disaster to apply for the Emergency Relief Program (ERP). An estimated $3.2 billion in funding was allocated by Congress to cover an estimated $10 billion in uncovered crop losses.
5 Important Points to Know When Applying:
- ERP 2022 is a revenue program that covers revenue losses exceeding 30% for crops, trees, bushes and vines due to qualifying 2022 calendar year natural disaster events.
- The 2022 ERP payment calculation includes a progressive payment factor.
- All producers must have all eligibility forms filed with the Farm Service Agency (FSA) by October 14.
- Form FSA-510, a request for an exception to the $125k payment limitation, is only needed if calculated payments for a person or legal entity exceed the $125k payment limitation.
- The $900,000 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) regulations do not apply to ERP.
