Principal Dusty Marquardt, success has been no accident. Growing up on a third-generation family farm in Northeast Colorado immersed him in the issues facing livestock and commodity crop operations from an early age. Add to that an entrepreneurial spirit and strong interest in finance and accounting, and the result is a powerful business advisor with a keen desire to help ranchers and farmers succeed.
Cattle and dairy markets can be very volatile, so Dusty works hard to live and breathe his clients’ business. He spends about a third of his time visiting customers, because being on the ground with them and understanding their unique issues is the best way to help them manage risk and formulate strategies for success. A unique and valuable facet of the service he provides to clients is benchmarking against other clients’ operations and the wider marketplace so they can see a better path to the future.
Whether it’s doing tax work, reviews, audits, or consulting, Dusty Marquardt brings both insight and experience to the table. Most important, though, is his passion for seeing beyond first glance to the root causes of problems and investigating further opportunities.
Some of Dusty’s favorite projects for clients revolve around tax savings. In one recent example, he was able to save a family $5.6 million in estate and income taxes by reorganizing their businesses.
