Chris Bonacorsi, Principal, Pinion, LLC
Chris Bonacorsi serves agricultural growers, producers, processors, manufacturers, and other closely-held businesses in the areas of tax planning, tax credits, mergers, liquidations, and reorganizations.
He is specialized in real estate guidance and real estate taxation strategies. As a certified public accountant (CPA) and the firm’s expert on tax law challenges for real estate businesses nationwide, Chris utilizes his extensive experience and expertise in real estate development, real estate syndication, and real estate holdings to tackle complicated challenges with innovative solutions. He is the leader in providing firmwide guidance on Section 1031 like kind exchanges and Section 1033 real property condemnations for the benefit of clients nationwide.
Solving complex tax issues comes naturally to Chris. And he has trained himself to process details differently than most accountants with the intent of seizing opportunities others miss, such as:
- Enabling an agricultural processor to preserve over $500,000 of working capital through the Interest Charge Domestic International Sales Corporation (IC-DISC).
- Alerting a grower to the possibility of using the Domestic Production Activities Deduction (DPAD), which saved the grower $50,000 a year. The grower’s prior accountant missed this important benefit.
- Suggesting an agricultural seed business move real property from one entity to another and apply for special tax deductions. These two adjustments—which a previous firm had not noticed—led to a significant tax savings.
Prior to joining in 1991, Chris Bonacorsi was an integral member of the real estate and agricultural team at Arthur Andersen serving the Silicon Valley and became passionate about the business of real estate. Chris leverages his career experiences and real-world application of the technical aspects of accounting to deliver a distinct level of wisdom that people understand and can benefit from.
